Indications
- Short-term management of post-operative pain
- Relief from ocular surgery discomfort
- Decrease eye inflammation caused by allergies
Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAID
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Metabolized in liver
Pharmacology
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection dosage: single or multiple doses for acute pain management
- Eye drops dosage: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
- Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with Beta Blocker
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic use before surgery
