Description

Motiwin 10 mg Tablet is a dopamine antagonist medication used to treat dyspeptic symptom complex, acute nausea and vomiting, Parkinson's disease, and to speed barium transit in follow-through radiological studies.

Dosage

  • Adults:
    • 10-20 mg (1-2 tablet or 10-20 ml suspension), every 6-8 hours daily
  • Children:
    • 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight, every 6-8 hours daily

Administration

  • Route: Oral
  • Timing: 15-30 minutes before meals and if necessary before retiring

Pharmacology

  • Action: Blocks dopamine receptors in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone and stomach
  • Effects:
    • Restores normal motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract
    • Facilitates gastric emptying
    • Enhances antral and duodenal peristalsis
    • Regulates contraction of the pylorus
    • Increases esophageal peristalsis and lower esophageal sphincter pressure
