Description
Motiwin 10 mg Tablet is a dopamine antagonist medication used to treat dyspeptic symptom complex, acute nausea and vomiting, Parkinson's disease, and to speed barium transit in follow-through radiological studies.
Dosage
- Adults:
- 10-20 mg (1-2 tablet or 10-20 ml suspension), every 6-8 hours daily
- Children:
- 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight, every 6-8 hours daily
Administration
- Route: Oral
- Timing: 15-30 minutes before meals and if necessary before retiring
Pharmacology
- Action: Blocks dopamine receptors in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone and stomach
- Effects:
- Restores normal motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract
- Facilitates gastric emptying
- Enhances antral and duodenal peristalsis
- Regulates contraction of the pylorus
- Increases esophageal peristalsis and lower esophageal sphincter pressure
