Pharmacology
- Source of D-chiro-inositol: Carob (Ceratonia siliqua) pod
- Mode of action: Regulates the balance between androgen and estrogen
- Effects: Decreases luteinizing hormone and serum testosterone level, improves glucose tolerance, reduces circulating insulin, reduces oxidative stress on follicle, decreases total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, improves and regulates normal ovulation, reduces hyperandrogenism related skin disorders, lowers cardiovascular risk in women with PCOS
Dosage & Administration
- Orally 1-2 capsules daily
- Minimum duration of treatment should be 2 months
Interaction
- Concurrent use with digoxin may result in increased digoxin toxicity
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to D-chiro-inositol
