Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis in adults and children 12 years and older
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children 12 years and older
Pharmacology
- H1 histamine receptor mediator of hypersensitivity and allergic reactions
- Fexofenadine considered an 'inverse agonist' of the H1 receptor
- Selective affinity for H1 receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosages for allergic rhinitis in adults and children
- Recommended dosages for chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and children
Interaction
- No hepatic biotransformation
- Increased level of fexofenadine in plasma with erythromycin or ketoconazole coadministration
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride
Side Effects
- Common undesirable effects: headache, drowsiness, nausea
- Post-marketing surveillance effects: hypersensitivity reactions, tachycardia, diarrhea
