Cofno (10 mg+30 mg+1.25 mg)/5 ml (Syrup)

Indications

• Relief of non-productive cough due to throat or bronchial irritation
• Relief of runny nose
• Relief of sneezing
• Relief of itching of the nose or throat
• Relief of itchy and watery eyes
• Relief of nasal congestion

Composition

• Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 20 mg per 5 ml
• Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 10 mg per 5 ml
• Triprolidine Hydrochloride 2.5 mg per 5 ml

Pharmacology

• Mixture of antitussive, decongestant, and antihistamine agent
• Dextromethorphan has central action on the cough centre in the medulla
• Phenylephrine shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passage for decongestion
• Triprolidine relieves symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold

Dosage and Administration

• Adults & Children over 12 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 4 times a day
• 6-12 years: 1/2 teaspoonful 4 times a day

Interactions

• Avoid MAO inhibitors during treatment with this medication

Contraindications

• Avoid in patients with liver disease or asthma
• Contraindicated in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors
