Composition
- Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Pharmacology
- Adequate Calcium in the blood is vital for bodily functions
- Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones and aids in Calcium absorption
Dosage & Administration
Tablet to be taken once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by physician. Effervescent tablet should be dissolved in a glass of water and taken orally. Taking with full stomach ensures better absorption
Interaction
Thiazide diuretics reduce the urinary excretion of calcium. Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption. Interaction with ion exchange resins, laxatives, tetracycline preparations, cardiac glycosides, bisphosphonate, and sodium fluoride
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component of this preparation
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

- Orally administered Calcium Carbonate may be irritating to the GI tract
- Constipation

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol
- Overdoses of calcium and vitamin D should be avoided during pregnancy
- No indications that vitamin D at therapeutic doses is teratogenic in humans
- Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Serum calcium levels and renal function should be monitored
- Caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Risk of soft tissue calcification
- Caution in patients with severe renal insufficiency
- Caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Monitor serum calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion frequently
Overdose Effects
Can lead to hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcaemia, resulting in various symptoms. Treatment includes discontinuation of calcium intake and monitoring of electrolytes and renal function
