Indications
- Prevention of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis
Pharmacology
- Contains Alcaftadine
- H1 receptor antagonist
- Inhibitor of histamine release from mast cell
- Histamine H2 and H4 receptor antagonist
- Demonstrated anti-inflammatory property
Dosage & Administration
- Instill one drop in each eye once daily for adults and children 2 years and over
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component in the product
Side Effects
- Eye irritation
- Burning or stinging upon instillation
- Eye redness
- Eye pruritus
- Nasopharyngitis
- Headache
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy category B
- Recommended to be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution should be exercised while administered to a nursing woman
Precautions & Warnings
- Do not touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip of the bottle
- Advised not to wear contact lens if the eye is red
- Not to be used to treat contact lens-related irritation
- Not to be instilled while wearing contact lenses
- Contact lenses should be removed prior to instillation and may be reinserted after 10 minutes following administration
- If more than 1 topical ophthalmic medicinal product is being used, each one should be administered at least 5 minutes apart
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients below the age of 2 years have not been established
- No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and younger subjects
