Composition
- Each tablet contains 1250 mg Calcium Carbonate USP (Coral source)
- Each tablet contains 500 mg of elemental Calcium
- Each tablet contains 200 IU Vitamin D USP
- Each DX tablet contains 1500 mg Calcium Carbonate USP
- Each DX tablet contains 600 mg of elemental Calcium
- Each DX tablet contains 400 IU Vitamin D USP
- Each effervescent tablet contains 1500 mg Calcium Carbonate USP
- Each effervescent tablet contains 600 mg of elemental Calcium
- Each effervescent tablet contains 400 IU Vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol USP
Pharmacology
- Vital for a wide variety of bodily functions
- Useful for the prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis
- Aids in Calcium absorption from the GI tract
- Stimulates bone formation
- Has synergistic effects on bone growth
- Coral Calcium sourced for better absorption
- Vitamin D3 aids in absorption and maintaining calcium balance
Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water
- Taking with a full stomach ensures better absorption
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Ion exchange resins and laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
- Interfere with the absorption of concomitantly administered tetracycline preparations
- May increase the toxicity of cardiac glycosides
- Should be administered at least three hours before bisphosphonates or sodium fluoride
- Inhibit calcium absorption through formation of insoluble calcium salts
- Should not be taken within two hours of eating foods high in oxalic acid and phytic acid
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Concomitant digoxin therapy
Side Effects
- Irritating to the GI tract
- May cause constipation
- Rarely produce hypercalcemia
- Possible allergic reactions
- Possible irregular heartbeats
- Nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, and drowsiness

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed specified amounts
- Reproductive toxicity with high dose of vitamin D in animals
- Overdoses should be avoided to prevent permanent hypercalcemia
- No indications of teratogenic effects in humans
- Can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Long-term treatment requires serum calcium level monitoring
- Renal function should be monitored especially in elderly patients
- Caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Risk of soft tissue calcification should be taken into account
- Caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Dose should be considered when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D
- Additional doses should be taken under close medical supervision
Overdose Effects
- Can lead to hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia
- Symptoms may include anorexia, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and more
- Persistently high calcium levels may lead to irreversible renal damage
