Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis
- Symptomatic treatment of Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
- Symptomatic treatment of Urticaria
Pharmacology
- Long-acting non-sedative antagonist of histamine H1-receptors
- Antagonist of platelet activating factor (PAF)
- Inhibition of degranulation of mast cells
- Inhibition of release of cytokines
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 10 mg once a day for adults and adolescents
- Different dosages for children based on weight
- Can be taken with or without food
Interactions
- Interacts with ketoconazole and erythromycin
- Caution advised when co-administered with statins, CNS depressants, or alcohol
- Avoid concomitant use with grapefruit or grapefruit juice
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or excipients
Side Effects
- Common side effects include asthenia, dizziness, and drowsiness
- Rare side effects include palpitations and tachycardia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks
- Not recommended during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with prolongation of QT interval

- Not recommended in patients with impaired kidney or liver function
