Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Chronic irritable colon
- Spastic constipation
- Mucous colitis
- Colicky abdominal pain
- Persistent non-specific diarrhoea
Description
Musculotropic antispasmodic agent used to relieve cramps or spasms of the stomach and intestine (gut)
Dosage & Administration
- Mebeverine Hydrochloride 135 mg tablet: 1 tablet 03 times daily
- Mebeverine Hydrochloride 200 mg capsule: 1 capsule 02 times daily
- Most effective when taken 20 minutes before meals
- Gradual dosage reduction after several weeks of desired effect
Missed dose
Take as soon as possible if missed, skip if near next dose, do not double dose
Use in children
Not recommended for children under 10 years
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug or any other ingredients
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated; possible side-effects include skin rash, urticaria, and angioedema
Pregnancy & Lactation
No teratogenicity shown in animal experiments, exercise caution during pregnancy, does not excrete in breast milk at therapeutic dose
Precautions & Warnings
Caution in porphyria or allergic reactions to this or any other medicine of this group
Overdose Effects
Predicted CNS excitability in case of overdosage, no specific antidote known, recommend gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment
