Dosage range

5-40 mg once daily

Recommended starting dose

20 mg/day

Pediatric dosage

  • 5-10 mg/day for ages 8 to less than 10 years
  • 5-20 mg/day for ages 10 to 17 years
  • 20 mg/day for ages 7 to 17 years

Administration instructions

Can be taken with or without food, at any time of day

Drug interactions

  • Cyclosporine: Combination increases Ropitor exposure
  • Gemfibrosil: Combination should be avoided
  • Lopinavir/Ritonavir or atazanavir/ritonavir: Combination increases Ropitor exposure
  • Coumarin anticoagulants: Combination prolongs international normalized ratio (INR)
  • Concomitant lipid-lowering therapies may increase the risk of skeletal muscle effects

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to product components
  • Liver disease with unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminase levels
  • Pregnant women and women who may become pregnant
  • Nursing mothers
