Description

- Composition:
- Each tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
- Pharmacology: Vital for a wide variety of bodily functions, useful for the prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis and associated fractures, aids in Calcium absorption from the GI tract, stimulates bone formation, ensures better absorption from coral source, has synergistic effects on bone growth, and in Osteoporosis and fracture prevention.
- Dosage & Administration: One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician. Effervescent tablet should be dissolved in a glass of water and taken orally. Taking with a full stomach ensures better absorption.
- Interaction: May interact with thiazide diuretics, systemic corticosteroids, ion exchange resins, laxatives, tetracycline preparations, cardiac glycosides, bisphosphonate, sodium fluoride, oxalic acid, and phytic acid.
- Contraindications:
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component of this preparation
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

- Pregnancy & Lactation: Should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol daily during pregnancy, can be used during breastfeeding but should be considered when giving additional vitamin D to the child.
- Precautions & Warnings: Serum calcium levels and renal function should be followed during long-term treatment, especially important in elderly patients, patients with a high tendency to calculus formation, and those on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics. Vitamin D should be used with caution in patients with impairment of renal function and the risk of soft tissue calcification should be taken into account.
- Overdose Effects: May lead to hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia, with symptoms including anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, polydipsia, polyuria, bone pain, nephrocalcinosis, and in severe cases, cardiac arrhythmias.
