Myguard 5 mg/spray (Nasal Spray)

Indications

• Acute treatment of migraines with or without aura in adults

Pharmacology

• Therapeutic activity due to agonist effects at the 5-HT1B/1D receptors on intracranial blood vessels and sensory nerves of the trigeminal system

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended starting dose of 2.5 mg tablet
• Maximum recommended single dose of 5 mg
• Maximum daily dose of 10 mg in any 24-hours period
• Administer one dose of 5 mg Nasal Spray for acute migraine
• Maximum daily dose of 10 mg in any 24-hour period for Nasal Spray
• Safety of treating an average of more than four headaches in a 30-day period has not been established

Contraindications

• Ischemic coronary artery disease
• History of stroke
• Concurrent or recent use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor
• Known hypersensitivity to Zolmitriptan

• Dizziness
• Paresthesia
• Asthenia
• Somnolence
• Warm/cold sensation
• Nausea
• Heaviness sensation
• Dry mouth

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category C
• Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
• Not known whether excreted in human milk
• Decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother

Precautions & Warnings

• Rare reports of serious cardiac adverse reactions, including acute myocardial infarction
• Sensations of tightness, pain, and pressure may occur in the chest, throat, neck, and jaw after treatment

Use in Special Populations

• Not recommended for use in patients under 18 years of age
