Indications
- Symptomatic treatment of Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis and Urticaria
Pharmacology
- Long-acting non-sedative antagonist of histamine H1-receptors
- Antagonizes platelet activating factor (PAF)
- Inhibition of degranulation of mast cells
- Inhibition of release of cytokines
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and adolescents (over 12 years): 10 mg once a day
- Children aged 2 to 11 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) for children weighing 25 kg or more
- Children aged 2 to 11 years: 1/2 teaspoonful (2.5 ml) for children weighing equal or more than 10 kg to less than 25 kg
Interaction
- Concomitant administration of 20 mg Rudine with ketoconazole or erythromycin increases systemic exposure
- Contraindicated with grapefruit and grapefruit juice

- Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or any of the excipients

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with known prolongation of the QT interval
- Use with caution in elderly patients
- Not recommended in patients with impaired kidney or liver function
Use in Special Populations
- Elderly: Use with caution without dose adjustment
- Children: Safety and efficacy not established in patients less than 12 years of age
- Patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency: Not recommended without relevant clinical data
Overdose Effects
- Most common adverse reaction is somnolence
- Symptomatic treatment and supportive measures required for accidental ingestion of very high doses
