Description
- Orally active cephalosporin antibiotic
- Treatment for Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI)
- Treatment for Lower Respiratory Tract Infections
- Treatment for Urinary Tract Infections
- Bactericidal activity against a wide variety of organisms
- Broad spectrum of gram positive and gram negative bacteria
- Interferes in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall
- 40%-50% absorption with or without food
- Highly stable in the presence of Beta-lactamase enzyme
- Usual course of treatment is 7 days
- Recommended dosage for adults and children over 10 years
- Recommended dosage for elderly patients
- Recommended dosage for children and infants
- Caution in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
- Generally well tolerated with mild and self limiting adverse reactions
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed
- Caution should be exercised when administered to nursing women
- Caution in patients with hypersensitivity to other drugs
- Caution in penicillin-sensitive patients
- Caution in patients with markedly impaired renal function
- Caution in use during pregnancy and lactation

Pharmacology
- Third generation semisynthetic cephalosporin
- Bactericidal against a broad spectrum of bacteria
