Description
- Used for treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, tinea manuum, onychomycosis, histoplasmosis, systemic candidiasis, aspergillosis, cryptococcosis, AIDS maintenance therapy, prevention of fungal infection during prolonged neutropenia
Dosage
- Available in 100mg and 200mg preparation
- Dosage varies based on specific fungal disease and severity
- Dosage and duration should be adjusted based on clinical response
- Pediatric use not established
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent use with drugs like terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, oral midazolam, triazolam, rifampin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, digoxin, calcium channel blockers
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or any ingredient
- Avoid in patients with severe hepatic disease
- Caution when used concurrently with rifampin
