Indications

• Initial treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma
• Palliative treatment of recurrent ovarian carcinoma
• Combination with other approved chemotherapeutic agents

Pharmacology

• Alkylating agent
• Binds covalently to DNA
• Modifies the cell cycle
• Interferes with DNA structure and function

Dosage & Administration

• Intravenous use only
• Recommended dosage for previously untreated adult patients
• Dosage adjustment for patients with risk factors
• Determination of hematologic nadir for dosage adjustment
• Precautions for handling and disposal of anti-cancer drugs

Interaction

• Not to be mixed with other drugs
• Potentiation of renal effects of neurotoxic compounds

Contraindications

• Severe renal impairment
• Severe myelosuppression
• History of severe allergic reactions to platinum containing compounds
• Bleeding tumors

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category D
• No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
• Presence in human milk

Precautions & Warnings

• Administered under supervision of a qualified physician
• Close monitoring of peripheral blood counts
• Neurologic evaluations
• Discontinuation in case of abnormal depression of the bone marrow or abnormal renal or hepatic function
• Careful planning of combination therapy with myelosuppressive compounds
• Nausea and vomiting management
• Renal function impairment precautions
• Prevention of allergic reactions
