  • Reversair CT 10 mg Chewable Tablet is a medication indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR) - Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.

Indication

  • Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma
  • Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB)
  • Relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR): Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Pharmacology

  • Selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist
  • Inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1)
  • Correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma & allergic rhinitis
  • Contributes to signs and symptoms of asthma

DosageAdministration

  • Adults and adolescents: Montelukast 10 mg tablet once daily
  • Pediatric patients: Montelukast 5 mg tablet once daily (6-14 years), 4 mg tablet once daily (2-5 years), 4 mg oral granules once daily (6 months-5 years)

Interaction

  • Administered with other therapies routinely used in the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma
  • No clinically important effects on the pharmacokinetics of theophylline, prednisone, terfenadine, digoxin, and warfarin
  • Used concomitantly with a wide range of commonly prescribed drugs without evidence of clinical adverse interactions

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product

SideEffects

  • Common: Diarrhoea, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting
  • Uncommon: Anxiety, dizziness, dry mouth, sleep disorders
  • Rare: Angioedema, hallucination, memory loss, palpitations

PregnancyLactation

  • Montelukast crosses the placenta in rats and rabbits
  • Caution advised during pregnancy and lactation

PrecautionsWarnings

  • Not indicated for use in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks
  • Should not be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids
  • Not to be used as monotherapy for the treatment of exercise-induced bronchospasm

OverdoseEffects

  • No adverse experiences in the majority of overdosage reports
  • Usual supportive measures recommended in the event of overdose
