Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
Bactericidal effect due to binding of positively charged chlorhexidine cation to negatively charged bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- 3 ml for disinfecting clean hands and contaminated materials
- 5 ml for disinfecting surgical instruments
- 3 ml for disinfecting skin prior to surgery or invasive procedures
- 3 ml for disinfecting wound/wound dressing
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and anionic agents, may cause stains on fabrics previously in contact with chlorhexidine solutions
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
