Indications

  • Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis
  • Symptomatic treatment of urticaria
  • Relief of hay fever symptoms

Pharmacology

  • Potent non-sedating histamine antagonist
  • High affinity to H1 receptor
  • Selective to H1 receptor
  • Does not show affinity for other receptors or histamine receptor subtypes
  • Excellent safety profile
  • Favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics
  • Excreted by feces and urine

Dosage & Administration

  • 20 mg tablet for adults & adolescents
  • 10 mg mouth dissolving tablet for children 6-11 years
  • 4 ml once daily for children 2-11 years
  • Swallow with water on an empty stomach
  • Maximum recommended daily dose is 20 mg for adults and 10 mg for children

Interaction

  • Increased concentration with ketoconazole, erythromycin, cyclosporine, or diltiazem
  • No significant effect on safety profile
  • No potentiation of CNS effects with lorazepam
  • No effect on psychomotor performance with alcohol intake

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
