Dosage & Administration

Interactions

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to nabumetone or its excipients
  • Asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
  • Severe anaphylactic-like reactions to NSAIDs
  • Contraindicated for peri-operative pain in the setting of CABG surgery

Side Effects

  • Gastrointestinal symptoms: diarrhea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence, etc.
  • Central Nervous System symptoms: dizziness, headache, fatigue, etc.
  • Dermatologic symptoms: pruritus, rash
  • Special Senses symptoms: tinnitus
  • Miscellaneous symptoms: edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy Category C
  • No well-controlled studies in pregnant women
  • Usage during pregnancy if clearly needed
  • Not recommended during third trimester of pregnancy
  • Not recommended for nursing mothers

Precautions & Warnings

  • Association with renal papillary necrosis and abnormal renal pathology in long-term administration to animals
  • Renal toxicity in patients with conditions leading to reduced renal blood flow
  • Discontinuation typically followed by recovery

Overdose Effects

  • Symptoms include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding possible
  • Rare occurrences of hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory depression, and coma
  • Anaphylactoid reactions may occur
  • No specific antidotes
