Indications
- Treatment of insomnia
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Difficulty maintaining sleep through the night
Pharmacology
- Interacts with Gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor complexes
- Allosterically coupled to benzodiazepine receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose for most adults: 2 or 3 mg
- Usual dose for persons over 65 years: 1 or 2 mg
- To be taken immediately before going to bed
- Effects last up to six hours
Interaction
- Avoid use with alcohol and sedating drugs
- May cause excessive sedation when combined

- Depression
