Claudinil 100 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Reduction of symptoms of intermittent claudication
• Increased walking distance
• Vascular claudication
• Muscle pain
• Numbness
• Fatigue

Pharmacology

• Cilostazol as a quinolinone derivative
• Inhibition of cellular phosphodiesterase III
• Suppression of cAMP degradation
• Increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels
• Inhibition of platelet aggregation
• Vasodilation

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dosage of 100mg bid
• Timing of administration with meals
• Consideration of lower dosage during coadministration with specific drugs
• Pediatric use not established

Interaction

• Increased systemic exposure due to Omeprazole and Erythromycin
• Higher concentrations with concurrent Diltiazem use

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure
• Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity

Side Effects

• Common side effects: headache, diarrhea, vomiting, leg cramps, rash
• Less frequent: anorexia, edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
• Transfer of Cilostazol into milk reported in experimental animals
• Potential risk to nursing infants

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with any degree of heart failure
• No information on concurrent use with Clopidogrel
