Composition
- Tablet contains 1250 mg calcium carbonate (coral source) equivalent to 500 mg elemental calcium and 200 IU vitamin D
- DX tablet contains 1500 mg calcium carbonate (coral source) equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium and 400 IU vitamin D
- Effervescent tablet contains 1500 mg calcium carbonate (coral source) equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium and 400 IU vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol

Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water to drink orally
- Better absorption on a full stomach
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reducing urinary excretion of calcium
- Reduced calcium absorption with systemic corticosteroids
- Interference with absorption of concomitantly administered tetracycline preparations
- Increased risk of toxic effects with simultaneous use of calcium and cardiac glycosides
- Necessity to administer Coraltec D at least three hours before bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride intake
- Inhibition of calcium absorption with oxalic acid and phytic acid
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy
Side Effects
- Irritation and constipation with orally administered Calcium Carbonate
- Rare occurrence of hypercalcemia with large calcium doses in chronic renal failure patients
- Allergic reactions, irregular heartbeats, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, drowsiness
- Occasional skin rash from Vitamin D Supplements
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake limitations during pregnancy
- Avoiding overdoses to prevent adverse effects on the developing fetus
- Consideration of vitamin D passage into breast milk during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring serum calcium levels and renal function during long-term treatment
- Monitoring serum calcium levels in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics
- Caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Risk of soft tissue calcification
- Caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Monitoring serum calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion in cases of additional calcium or vitamin D intake
Overdose Effects
- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia leading to various symptoms
- Possible irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification with persistently high calcium levels
- Discontinuation of calcium and other relevant treatments
- Monitoring of serum electrolytes, renal function, diuresis, ECG, and CVP in severe cases
