Description

DosageAndAdministration

  • Instill 1 drop 4 times a day
  • Instill 1 drop 2 times a day
  • Apply a small amount (Approximately 1/2 inch ribbon) four times daily
  • Instill one to two drops 4 times daily
  • Not established for pediatric use
  • No overall differences in safety and effectiveness for geriatric use

Pharmacology

  • Inhibits inflammatory response
  • Delays or slows healing
  • Inhibits edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leukocyte migration

Interaction

  • Not expected to affect systemically administered medicinal products

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredients of this preparation and to other corticosteroids

SideEffects

  • Elevated intraocular pressure with optic nerve damage
  • Visual acuity and field defects
  • Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
  • Ocular adverse reactions occurring in 5%-15% patients

  • Reproductive toxicity in animal studies
  • No clinical data on exposed pregnancies available

PrecautionsAndWarnings

  • Re-evaluation if no improvement after two days
  • Monitor intraocular pressure if used for 10 days or longer
  • Consider fungus invasion in persistent corneal ulceration
  • Caution with redness or itching aggravation
  • Advised not to wear contact lenses during therapy
