Indications

Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology

Telmisartan blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic affecting renal tubular mechanisms

Dosage & Administration

Initial dose: Telmisartan monotherapy 80 mg or Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily
Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide 80 mg/12.5 mg once daily
May be administered with other antihypertensive drugs

Interaction

Caution with aliskiren, digoxin, lithium, NSAIDs, corticosteroids, ACE blockers, angiotensin II receptor blockers

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or Hydrochlorothiazide
Co-administration of Aliskiren in patients with Diabetes
