Description
- Exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties
- A prodrug undergoing hepatic biotransformation to the active component (6MNA)
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Oral administration
- Dosage forms: 500 mg, 750 mg, 1000 mg tablets
- Recommended starting dose: 1000 mg
- Can be taken with or without food
- Recommended dosage adjustment for renal insufficiency
- Not recommended for use in pediatric patients
- Potential interaction with ACE-inhibitors
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to NSAIDs
- Contraindicated for peri-operative pain in CABG surgery
- Side effects: gastrointestinal, central nervous system, dermatologic, special senses, miscellaneous
- Pregnancy Category C, not recommended during the third trimester
