Indications
- Treatment of ocular infections involving the conjunctiva and/or cornea caused by Chemophenicol-susceptible organisms
Pharmacology
- Broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic
- Inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 1 or 2 drops in the conjunctival sac 4-6 times per day for the first 72 hours
- Treatment continued for approximately 7 days
- Not to be continued for more than 3 weeks without re-evaluation by the physician
Interaction
- Inhibition of Chymotrypsin if given simultaneously with Chemophenicol
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to Chloramphenicol or any ingredients of the preparation
Side Effects
- Burning
- Stinging
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Blood dyscrasia
- Allergic or inflammatory reactions
- Vesicular and maculopapular dermatitis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safety not established
- Use only when considered essential by the physician
Precautions & Warnings
- Not for minor infections or prophylaxis
- Avoid repeated course and prolonged treatment
- Risk of blood dyscrasias
Overdose Effects
- Accidental ingestion unlikely to cause toxicity due to low antibiotic content

- Store in a cool (between 2°C-8°C) and dry place
- Protect from light
