Dosage & Administration

  • Daily dosage of Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg
  • Increase of dosage to Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.8 mg if necessary
  • Swallowing the capsule whole with water
  • Restriction on crunched or chewed consumption
  • Administration after meal at night
  • Restarting therapy with Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg once daily dose

Interaction

  • Concurrent administration with other alfa1-adrenoceptor antagonists
  • No interactions with atenolol, enalapril, or nifedipine
  • Interactions with cimetidine and frusemide
  • No interactions at the level of hepatic metabolism
  • Increase in elimination rate with diclofenac and warfarin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Tamsulosin hydrochloride
  • History of orthostatic hypotension
  • Severe hepatic insufficiency
  • Reduction in blood pressure and syncope risk
  • Caution in situations requiring alertness
  • Examination and tests before therapy initiation

Side Effects

  • Adverse reactions: dizziness, abnormal ejaculation, headache, asthenia, postural hypotension, palpitations

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Not recommended for use in pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings

  • Transient postural symptoms after the first dose
  • Not advised for use in patients with micturition syncope
  • Effects on ability to drive and use machines: dizziness
