Indications

• Relief of inflammatory manifestations
• Treatment of psoriasis
• Eczema relief
• Ichthyosis treatment

Pharmacology

• High potency corticosteroid
• Decreases inflammation
• Stabilizes leukocyte membranes
• Keratolytic action
• Antifungal and antibacterial activity

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a thin layer twice daily
• Rub in gently
• Adequate maintenance therapy
• Discontinue therapy when controlled
• Not for use with occlusive dressing

Interaction

• No reported interaction with Clobetasol Propionate
• Increased absorption of other topically applied medicines by salicylic acid
• Avoid concomitant use with other topical medicines on the same area of skin

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Clobetasol Propionate
• Contraindicated in primary infected bacterial or fungal skin lesions
• Not for use in children under one year of age
• Salicylate hypersensitivity

Side Effects

• Systemic absorption leading to hypercortisolism
• Local atrophy after prolonged treatment
• Signs of hypersensitivity
• Drying and irritation when using Salicylic Acid

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Topical use in pregnant animals can cause fetal abnormalities
• Safe use during lactation not established
• Caution in pregnant patients
• Safety not established for use during pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution near the eyes
• Possible systemic toxicity with extensive use
• Hazardous in psoriasis
• Supervision in psoriasis treatment
• Avoid contact with broken or inflamed skin
• Salicylate toxicity on neonates

Overdose Effects

• Features of hypercortisolism in chronic overdose/misuse
• Gradual discontinuation of topical steroids in case of chronic overdose
• Systemic salicylate poisoning symptoms
• Salicylism possible with large ingestion or prolonged use
