Opthamox Plus 0.5%+0.1% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of eye infections
• Prevention of inflammation after eye surgery

Composition

• 5 mg Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP
• 1 mg Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP

Pharmacology

• Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and IV
• Dexamethasone is anti-allergic and anti-exudative

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for up to 7 days for eye infections
• Preventive use before and after cataract or LASIK surgery

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to quinolones
• Glaucoma
• Viral and fungal eye diseases

Side Effects

• Conjunctivitis
• Decreased visual acuity
• Cataract formation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use during pregnancy if benefit justifies potential risk

Precautions & Warnings

• Discontinue if allergic reaction occurs
• Assess intraocular pressure routinely

Use in Special Populations

• No change in dosage for elderly patients
• Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients
