Anulid is indicated for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and skin structure infections, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections.
Linezolid is a synthetic, antibacterial agent belonging to a new class of antibiotics, the oxazolidinones, with in vitro activity against Gram positive aerobic bacteria, some Gram positive anaerobic bacteria and certain Gram negative bacteria.
Linezolid tablets and IV infusion should be taken in oral route with or without food, with recommended daily dosages for various infections.
Anulid has contraindications for patients with known hypersensitivity to Linezolid, uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis, carcinoid syndrome, and those taking specific medicinal products or sympathomimetic agents.
Common side effects of Anulid include diarrhea, headache, nausea, oral and vaginal moniliasis, hypertension, dyspepsia, localized abdominal pain, pruritus, and tongue discoloration.
Pregnant women should use Linezolid only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus, and lactating women should consider potential adverse effects on the breastfed child from Linezolid.
Complete blood counts should be monitored weekly in patients who receive Anulid, and patients should receive prompt ophthalmic evaluation if visual impairment symptoms occur.
