Indications

Pharmacology

  • Selective inhibition of phosphodiesterase 4

Dosage & Administration

  • 200 mg tablet for elderly
  • 400 mg tablet for adults
  • 10 ml syrup for children above 12 years
  • 6-9 mg/kg body weight for children 6-12 years
  • 400 mg Doxophylline SR tablet for required daily dose
  • Prescribed by physician

Interaction

  • Not to be administered with other xanthine preparations
  • Limit consumption of caffeine-containing beverages and food
  • Caution with sympathomimetic drugs
  • Caution with specific drugs like erythromycin, TAO, lincomycin, etc.
  • Possible increase in dosage with phenytoin and anticonvulsants
  • Caution with cigarette smoking

Overdose Effects

  • Severe cardiac arrhythmias
