Description

• Colorless and flammable chemical compound
• Most common disinfectant in pharmaceutics, hospitals, cleanrooms, and electronics or medical device manufacturing
• More effective at killing microorganisms and better tolerated than soap and water

Pharmacology

• Isomer of propyl alcohol with antibacterial properties
• Kills cells by denaturing cell proteins and DNA
• Interferes with cellular metabolism
• Used in soaps and lotions as an antiseptic

Dosage & Administration

• More convenient than hand washing with soap and water in healthcare settings
• Recommended only if soap and water are not available
• Apply product to the palm of one hand, rub hands together, rub the product over all surfaces of hands and fingers until dry

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with known Hypersensitivity
