Description
- Used for bronchial asthma
- Treats bronchospasm
- Manages chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Applicable in pulmonary disease with spastic bronchial component
- Contains Doxophylline as the active ingredient
- Structurally differs from Theophylline due to the presence of a dioxolane group in position 7
- Selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4
- Relaxes bronchial smooth muscle
- Decreased affinities toward adenosine A1 and A2 receptors
- Inhibits platelet activating factor (PAF) and generation of leukotriene production
- Dosage for Elderly: 200 mg tablet two or three times daily
- Dosage for Adults: 400 mg tablet two or three times daily
- Dosage for Children: 10 ml syrup or 200 mg tablet two or three times daily for >12 years of age
- Dosage for Children: 6-9 mg/kg body weight two times daily for 6-12 years of age
- If required daily dose of Doxophylline is 400 mg, Doxophylline SR tablet to be taken once daily
- Should not be administered with other xanthine preparations
