Description

Floriva-F Inhaler is indicated for the regular treatment of asthma where use of a combination product (long-acting β2-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid) is appropriate. The pharmacology includes selective, long-acting beta-2 agonist (Salmeterol Xinafoate) and a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity (Fluticasone Propionate). It offers a more convenient regime for patients on concurrent β-agonist and inhaled corticosteroid therapy.

Administration Steps

Take off the cap
Shake the inhaler vigorously before each use
Breathe out fully and hold the inhaler upright
Release medicine while breathing deeply and slowly through the mouth
Continue holding breath for at least 10 seconds
Replace the cap on the mouthpiece after use
Rinse mouth with water after each treatment
Check technique in front of a mirror from time to time

Cleaning Instructions

Clean the inhaler at least once a week. Rinse the plastic actuator and cap in warm water without putting the metal canister into water. Dry thoroughly and gently replace the metal canister into the actuator with a twisting motion. Put the cap on the mouthpiece.

Interaction

Avoid non-selective and selective β-blockers in patients with asthma

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to salmeterol xinafoate or fluticasone propionate
Primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute episodes of asthma where intensive measures are required

Not to be initiated during an exacerbation of asthma
Not for relief of acute symptoms
Serious asthma-related adverse events and exacerbations may occur
Vigilance for the possible development of pneumonia in COPD patients
Monitoring of growth velocity in pediatric patients

Overdose Effects

Salmeterol: Seizures, angina, tachycardia, tremor, nausea
Fluticasone Propionate: Temporary suppression of adrenal function, may lead to adrenal suppression
