Pharmacology
- Calcium is used to remedy deficiency

Dosage & Administration
- For Children 3-7 years: ½ effervescent tablet daily
- For Adults & children above 7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily
- Dissolve 1 tablet in a glass of water before consumption
Interaction
- Potentially hazardous interactions with Digoxin, tetracycline, furosemide, pentagastrin
- Potentially useful interactions with Vitamin-D, oxytocin and prostaglandins
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia
- Severe hypercalciuria
- Severe renal failure
- Hyperoxalauria
- Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
- Iron overload
- Larger doses may lead to gastrointestinal tract upset
Side Effects
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, diarrhea)
- Prolonged treatment with high doses may promote the formation of calculi in the urinary tract
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Epidemiological studies with oral calcium have shown no increase in the teratogenic hazard to the fetus
- Supplemental calcium may be excreted in breast milk, but unlikely to produce adverse effects on the neonate
- Vitamin C may be taken safely during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring of calcium excretion in the urine may be required for patients with mild hypercalciuria, impairment of renal function, or history of urinary concrements
- High doses of vitamin-D and derivatives should be avoided during treatment with CX-C unless especially indicated
- This medicine should be used with caution in patients with severely impaired renal function

- Acute overdosage hasn't been reported
- Expected to cause gastrointestinal disturbances
