Indications
- Prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma

Dosage & Administration
- 1 mg dose for adults, twice daily with food
- May be increased to 2 mg for severe cases
- 1 mg dose for children above 3 years
- 0.5 to 1 mg for easily sedated patients
- Same as adult dose for elderly
- Physician's guidance recommended for children and elderly
Interaction
- Potentiate the effects of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohols
- Reversible fall in platelet count observed with oral antidiabetic agents
Contraindications
- Avoid concomitant use with oral antidiabetic agents
- No recommendations for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings
- Continuation of previous treatment for a minimum of two weeks after starting

- Avoidance of operating vehicles or machinery
- Supplemental antimicrobial therapy during intercurrent infection
- Potentiation of sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines, and alcohol
- Possible existence of adrenocortical insufficiency in steroid-dependent patients
