Description

Dosage
- Usually 2 tablets orally daily in the morning and noon for adults
- Maintenance dose: usually 1 tablet orally in the morning
- Elderly patients: 1 tablet in the morning
Pharmacology
- Consists of flupentixol and melitracen, rendering a preparation with antidepressant, anxiolytic, and activating properties
Interaction
- May enhance the response to alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants
- Simultaneous administration of MAO-inhibitors may cause hypertensive crises
Contraindications
- Immediate recovery phase after myocardial infarction
- Untreated narrow-angle glaucoma
- Acute alcohol, barbiturate, and opiate intoxications
Side Effects
- Rare in recommended doses, may include transient restlessness and insomnia
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Preferably not given during pregnancy and lactation

- Tranquilizers with sedative effect should be withdrawn gradually if previously used by the patient
