Indications
- Treatment of bronchospasm in adults
- Treatment of bronchospasm in adolescents
- Prevention of bronchospasm in children 6 years and older
Pharmacology
- Levosalbutamol is a single isomer beta 2-agonist
- Primary mechanism of action is unimpeded by (S)-salbutamol
- Clinically comparable bronchodilation achieved with reduced side effects
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage for adults and adolescents above 12 years
- Tablet dosage for children (6 -11 years)
- Syrup dosage for adults
- Syrup dosage for children (6-11 years)
Interaction
- Caution with other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators
- Caution with epinephrine
- Use caution with additional adrenergic drugs to avoid cardiovascular effects
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to levosalbutamol or its components

- Burning substernal or epigastric pain

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk
- Unknown excretion in human milk
- Caution with nursing women
Precautions & Warnings
- Particular caution in acute severe asthma
- Caution with concomitant treatment with xanthine derivatives, steroids, and diuretics
- Monitoring of serum potassium levels in acute severe asthma
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms of excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation
- Symptoms listed under side effects
- Stomach emptying in case of serious poisoning
- Caution with beta-blocker administration in patients with history of bronchospasm
