Composition
- Each tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Mode of Action
- Vital for the prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis and associated fractures
- Vitamin D aids in Calcium absorption and bone formation
- Clinical studies show synergistic effects on bone growth and Osteoporosis prevention
- Coral Calcium has a chemical structure similar to human bone
- Vitamin D3 aids in absorption of Calcium and maintains Calcium balance in the body
Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by physician
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink orally
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins or laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
- Calcium carbonate may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline preparations
- Hypercalcaemia may increase toxicity of cardiac glycosides during treatment with calcium and vitamin D
- Avoid taking calcium products within two hours of eating foods high in oxalic acid and phytic acid
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component of this preparation
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol
- Avoid overdoses as it may lead to permanent hypercalcaemia
- No indications that vitamin D at therapeutic doses is teratogenic in humans
- Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitor serum calcium levels and renal function during long-term treatment
- Monitoring is especially important in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics
- Use vitamin D with caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Consider risk of soft tissue calcification
- Use caution in immobilised patients with osteoporosis
- Consider dose adjustments when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D
- Additional doses should be taken under close medical supervision
Overdose Effects
- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcaemia
- Symptoms include anorexia, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, polydipsia, polyuria, bone pain
- May lead to irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification
- Treatment may include discontinuing calcium and vitamin D, rehydration, and monitoring
