Indications
- Steroid responsive inflammatory conditions

Pharmacology
- Inhibition of inflammatory response
- Delay or slow healing
- Inhibition of edema
- Fibrin deposition
- Capillary dilation
- Leukocyte migration
- Capillary proliferation
- Fibroblast proliferation
- Deposition of collagen
- Scar formation inhibition
Dosage and administration
- Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac
- Four times a day for 0.5% ophthalmic suspension
- Two times a day for 1% ophthalmic suspension
- Apply a small amount into conjunctival sac four times daily for ophthalmic ointment
- Instill one to two drops into the conjunctival sac four times daily for ophthalmic gel
- Use in children and geriatric use
Interaction
- No impact on systemically administered medicinal products
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Fungal diseases of ocular structures
- Known or suspected hypersensitivity to ingredients
Side effects
- Elevated intraocular pressure
- Optic nerve damage
- Visual acuity and field defects
- Cataract formation
- Ocular infection
- Perforation of the globe
- Abnormal vision/blurring
- Burning on instillation
- Dry eyes
- Itching
- Photophobia
- Non-ocular adverse reactions like headache, rhinitis, and pharyngitis
Pregnancy and lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Reproductive toxicity in animals
- Caution in nursing women
Precautions and warnings
- Re-evaluation if no improvement after two days
- Monitor intraocular pressure if used for 10 days or longer
- Consider fungus invasion in persistent corneal ulceration
- Consult physician if redness or itching worsens
- Avoid wearing contact lenses during therapy
