Indications
- Adjunct to diet and exercise

Pharmacology
- Inhibition of DPP-4 enzyme
- Increase in concentrations of active incretin hormones
- Reduction in hepatic glucose output
- Inhibition of Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2)
- Reduction in renal reabsorption of filtered glucose
- Increase in urinary glucose excretion
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose of 10 mg Empagliflozin and 5 mg Linagliptin once daily
- Increased dose to 25 mg Empagliflozin and 5 mg Linagliptin once daily
- Assessment of renal function before initiation
Interaction
- Coadministration with diuretics
- Coadministration with Insulin or Insulin secretagogues
- Coadministration with inducers of P-glycoprotein or CYP3A4 Enzymes
- Increase in urine glucose test
- Interference with 1,5-anhydroglucitol (1,5-AG) Assay
Contraindications
- Severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease
- Hypersensitivity reaction to Linagliptin
- Hypersensitivity reaction to Empagliflozin
