Clop-AS 75 mg+75 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Reduces rate of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in patients with ACS
• Indicated for recent MI, recent Stroke, or established Peripheral Arterial Disease

Pharmacology

• Clopidogrel inhibits platelet activation and aggregation
• Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation by irreversible inhibition of platelet cyclooxygenase

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose of 75 mg once daily
• Loading dose of 300 mg for acute coronary syndrome patients

Interaction

• Clopidogrel potentiates the effect of aspirin on collagen-induced platelet aggregation
• Co-administration with NSAIDs should be done with caution

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to the drug substance
• Contraindicated in active pathological bleeding

Side Effects

• Generally well tolerated

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use during first and second trimesters if clearly needed
• Contraindicated in the third trimester and during breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

• May prolong bleeding time
• Rare reports of TTP following use

Use in Special Populations

• Should not be given to children under 12 years unless benefits outweigh risks
• Aspirin may contribute to Reye's syndrome in children

Overdose Effects

• Clopidogrel overdose may lead to bleeding complications
• Aspirin overdose may cause symptoms like dizziness, headache, confusion
