Indications
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of genito-urinary tract infections
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of ear, nose, and throat infections

Pharmacology
- Kills bacteria by interfering in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall
- Inhibits the transpeptidase enzyme
- Weakens the bacterial cell wall
- Active by mouth
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
- Dosage range for children: 25-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses to a maximum of 4 g daily
- Recommended doses for children based on weight
- Dosage adjustment for severe or deep seated infections
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics
