Indications

• Prevention & treatment of damages due to faulty or deficient protein metabolism
• Chronic kidney disease
• Limited dietary protein intake
• Patients with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 25 ml/min

• Calcium-3-methyl-2-oxo-valerate
• Calcium-4-methyl-2-oxo-valerate
• Calcium-2-oxo-3-phenylpropionate
• Calcium-3-methyl-2-oxobutyrate
• Calcium-DL-2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio) butyrate
• L-lysine acetate USP
• L-threonine USP
• L-tryptophan USP
• L-histidine USP
• L-tyrosine USP

Pharmacology

• Amino acids
• Ketoanalogues
• Protein metabolism improvement
• Renal function improvement
• Amino-nitrogen intake minimization
• Transamination of keto- and hydroxy-analogues

Dosage & Administration

• 4-8 tablets 3 times a day during meals
• Swallow whole
• Ingestion during meals for proper absorption
• Applicable to adults with 70 kg body weight
• Given as long as GFR is between 5 and 25mL/minute

Interaction

• Concomitant administration of calcium-containing drugs
• Aluminum hydroxide administration
• Drugs forming hardly soluble compounds with calcium
• Susceptibility to cardioactive glycosides
• Monitoring of serum phosphate levels

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to active substances or excipients
• Hypercalcemia
• Disturbed amino acid metabolism

Side Effects

• Hypercalcaemia
• Intake of vitamin D should be reduced in case of persisting hypercalcaemia

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No adequate data in pregnant women
• No harmful effects in animal studies
• Caution in prescribing to pregnant women
• No experience in use during lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Regular monitoring of serum calcium level
• Ensure sufficient calorie intake
• Attention to phenylketonuria
• Monitoring of serum phosphate levels with aluminum hydroxide
