Composition
- Each tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Pharmacology
- Clinical evidence suggesting usefulness for Osteoporosis and associated fractures
- Vitamin D essential for healthy bones and aids Calcium absorption
- Stimulates bone formation
- Synergistic effects of Calcium and vitamin D on bone growth
- Coral Calcium with similar structure to human bone for better absorption
Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician
- Dissolving 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water for oral consumption
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins may reduce vitamin D absorption
- Calcium carbonate may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline preparations
- Hypercalcaemia may increase the toxicity of cardiac glycosides during treatment with calcium and vitamin D
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake limit during pregnancy
- Reproductive toxicity shown in animal studies with high dose of vitamin D

- No indications of teratogenicity in humans
- Calcium and vitamin D3 passage into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring of serum calcium levels and renal function during long-term treatment
- Serum calcium level monitoring in elderly patients
- Caution in patients with impairment of renal function
- Risk of soft tissue calcification should be considered
- Caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Consideration of vitamin D dose when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D
Overdose Effects
- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia
- Symptoms including anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation
- Muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances
- Polydipsia, polyuria, bone pain
- Renal damage and soft tissue calcification with persistently high calcium levels
