Description
Freeway is a medication used to treat bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary disease with spastic bronchial component. It contains Doxophylline, a novel bronchodilator that selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase 4 and relaxes bronchial smooth muscle. The dosage varies for elderly, adults, and children above 12 years of age. Freeway should not be administered with other xanthine preparations and caution should be exercised in consuming caffeine. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the drug or other xanthine derivatives, as well as in patients with acute myocardial infarction, hypotension, and during lactation. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, headache, and tachycardia. The use of Freeway during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated, and it does not affect the patient's alertness to drive or operate machinery. Special precautions should be taken for patients with cardiac disease, hypertension, and other specific conditions. In case of overdose, severe cardiac arrhythmias and tonic-clonic seizures may occur. Freeway belongs to the therapeutic class of bronchodilators and methyl xanthine derivatives, and should be stored in a dry place away from light and heat.
