Indications
- Treatment of gout
- Treatment of hyperuricemia
Pharmacology
- URAT1-selective urate reabsorption inhibitor
- Increases urinary urate excretion
- Lowers serum urate levels
- Inhibitory effects on ABCG2, OAT1 and OAT3
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dosage is 0.5 mg once daily
- Gradually increase dose as necessary
- Maintenance dose is usually 2 mg once a day
- Maximum dose should be 4 mg once a day

Interaction
- Interaction with Pyrazinamide
- Interaction with Salicylic acid preparations Aspirin
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug component
Side Effects
- Most commonly reported side effects include gouty arthritis and limb discomfort
- Other reported side effects such as loose stools, increased y-GTP, arthralgia, kidney stones, increased urinary y2 macroglobulin, etc.
