Ocluma 0.2%+0.5% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension

Pharmacology

• Comprised of Brimonidine Tartrate & Timolol Maleate
• Dual mechanism of action
• Decreases aqueous humor production
• Increases nonpressure dependent uveoscleral outflow
• Lowers IOP by reducing aqueous humor production
• Rapid onset of action
• Peak ocular hypotensive effect seen within two hours of administration

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily

Interaction

• Specific drug interaction studies have not been conducted

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component
• Bronchial asthma
• Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Sinus bradycardia
• Second or third-degree atrioventricular block
• Overt cardiac failure
• Cardiogenic shock

Side Effects

• Allergic conjunctivitis
• Conjunctival folliculosis
• Conjunctival hyperaemia
• Eye pruritus
• Ocular burning or stinging

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
• Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
• Timolol detected in human milk
• Unknown if Brimonidine Tartrate is excreted in human milk
• Decision on nursing or discontinuation to be made considering importance of the drug to the mother

Precautions & Warnings

• May be absorbed systemically
• Presence of Timolol may cause cardiovascular and pulmonary adverse reactions
• Cautions should be exercised in treating patients with severe or unstable and uncontrolled cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases

Use in Special Populations

• Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years have not been established
• No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and other adult patients

Therapeutic Class

Storage Conditions

• Store at a cool & dry place
• Protect from light
• Do not use longer than 30 days after the first opening of the bottle
• Keep out of the reach of children
